The Knights of Columbus operate a national level youth program called Columbian Squires. Operational since 1925, this fraternal Catholic lay organization youth program is targeted towards boys in the age group of 12 to 18 years old. The events which are also conducted at the state and city level are overseen by adult leaders. It has been observed that on certain occasions the children have been abused by some of the adult volunteer leaders. Since the participating children are groomed to respect their teachers, they seldom speak about their child sex abuse horrors to their parents, certainly not their friends or classmates, or older relatives.
